In 2008, five families from Kerala arrived in Bendigo to work at the Bendigo Base Hospital; the Malayalee community has started to flourish since this time. The community members felt the need to sustain their religious faith and traditions they imbibed so that the future generation could grow as a faithful community. In 2011, the Department of Catechism was formed with 12 students.
