Safeguarding is a vital commitment for the protection of vulnerable individuals from abuse and neglect, particularly within the church community. It is our shared responsibility to ensure the safety of children, young people, and adults at risk.

The Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Melbourne places the safety and well-being of every individual as our highest priority. Our Eparchy Safeguarding Team is dedicated to providing professional advice and training to assist parishes and missions in fulfilling this crucial responsibility. We are here to support those who may have experienced abuse or exploitation.

To uphold these values, it is imperative that everyone in the church community is knowledgeable about responding to potential harm. Each parish or benefice must have designated safeguarding officers who are trained to handle these situations effectively.

We encourage the reporting of any abuse or exploitation. Individuals should feel assured that they will receive the necessary support and that their concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.

By working together, we can create a safe and supportive environment for all members of our community.

For further information or to report a concern, please contact the Eparchy Safeguarding Team.
